Just had a really cool moment. I got air dashing finished(!) and was testing out some stuff to see if any obvious bugs showed up. Before I even realized it, I had spent about 3 minutes just running around the debug level, trying to optimize my movements. I was having fun and didn’t even realize it!
I’ve had this fear for a while that despite all the work I’ve put into this game, there’s the possibility that it won’t feel right, somehow. That it won’t feel intrinsically fun. That could still happen, but this was the first real evidence that I don’t need to worry.
On a less cool note, I also made it so you stop your momentum whenever you double jump, unless you’re holding the same direction as your momentum. That sounds kind of complicated, but it just means that if you’re holding forward while jumping forward, you keep your momentum. Same thing if you hold back while jumping back. It’s pretty close to how Smash Bros. handles double jumps, and it just feels better.
