Finally! I just finished getting both wall sliding and wall jumping working in the game, which took a lot longer than I expected. There are a lot of small interactions between jumping, collision detection, wall sliding, wall jumping, and air dashing, which means there were a lot of places for bugs to crop up.
Anyway, here are THE GOODS.
Like I said in the last update, I’ve also been finding and fixing a ton of small things. It’s not as glamorous as working on major features, but the game is in much better shape than it was two weeks ago.
Next up is attacks! Each character has 17-19 attacks in the game (not including grabs), and I’m not expecting them to be a walk in the park to get done. It’s still exciting, though. Once attacks are in the game, it’s just a few steps away from feeling “playable.” There are a lot of other things that have to go into the game (grabs, ledge grabbing, rolling, hitstun/lag, teching, making the game multiplayer, making a menu, making a real stage, and a handful of other small features), but finishing attacking will be a huge milestone. Once you can move around and attack, even if all that other stuff isn’t in the game, you can really get a feel for what the game is supposed to be like. Can’t wait!
